1/4 cup yeast
1 1/4 cup warm water
20 cups flour
1/3 cup baking powder
3 T. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 cup sugar
4 cups shortening
8 cups buttermilk
Mix yeast and warm water and set aside. Mix all dry ingredients. Cut in shortening. Add buttermilk and yeast mixture. Stir just until mixed. Turn out on floured surface. Knead lightly. Roll out to about 1/2 inch. Cut out and put on greased trays. At this point, either bake them in a 425° oven for 10 minutes, or place in freezer to flash freeze. Once frozen, put in freezer bags. To use: thaw and let rise 20 minutes on top of oven while it is preheating, then bake as directed above.
